Definition: Extraocular muscle that runs parallel to the long axis of the fish and inserts on the anterior side of the eye at the sclera-corneal (SC) junction. The medial rectus lies in the same anatomical plane as the lateral rectus. The medial rectus is innervated by the oculomotor nerve.
